On the official The Batman Twitter page, the posters were first posted. They feature Robert Pattinson’s Batman, Zoë Kravitz’s Catwoman, Paul Dano’s The Riddler, and Colin Farrell’s The Penguin. Since then, they have been shared by Reeves himself and the official DC Twitter account as well. They have been receiving a lot of praise from fans and have started a conversation about what truth could they be hiding in plain sight.

In the past few months, a lot has been said about Reeve’s interpretation of the age-old story of the Caped Crusader. It is already known that it will be quite different from the previous films in The Batman franchise, and the character posters are a further indication of this variation, considering their dark, cryptic nature. The black and white theme, and the slogan on each poster, almost makes them seem sinister in nature. They drive home the point of that this will be more of a noir detective film than an action flick. The posters also emphasize the Riddler’s role in the upcoming film and the importance of his schemes.

The Riddler has previously made an appearance in 1995’s Batman Forever and was portrayed wonderfully by Jim Carrey. However, Carrey’s version of the Riddler was closer to the classic comic book version, with his bright green ensembles laced with his iconic question mark logo and his unconventional personality. Dano’s character in The Batman seems like a more muted version of the Riddler, as has been evident in the film’s trailers. While he continues to ask his eccentric questions, as is visible in a teaser posted on The Batman Twitter page, they seem less bizarre.

Apart from sharing the posters, the Twitter page has also invited fans to share any questions that they may have for lead actor Pattinson. A select number of questions will then be answered by the actor before the film’s premiere. The only caveat is that fans cannot post any riddles, since Batman has to deal with enough of those already.

The Batman will premiere in theaters on March 4, 2022.
