The Batman stars Robert Pattinson in the lead role, with Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and Paul Dano as the mysterious Riddler. This film will be giving the Riddler a much darker twist compared his typical bright and colorful demeanor that many comic book and television fans are used to. Director Matt Reeves has revealed that this version of Riddler will be based on the Zodiac killer, so don’t expect any fancy suits or hats. This Riddler will be killing important figures in Gotham City, anticipating that the whole world will be watching.

Another interesting thing is that this year has the potential of having a film with three different versions of Batman. Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck are also starring in the upcoming Flash film as their respective versions of the Caped Crusader. Some fans have speculated that The Flash film will have a Marvel moment by having Pattinson’s Batman make his way into the film in order to join the other two. As cool as this idea is, it’s likely this is more wishful thinking than anything, but only time will tell. Reeves has already stated that his version of Batman is not connected to the DCEU.

The Batman already has high amounts of anticipation and many who have worked on the film have only good things to say. The film will bring a darker, brutal, and aggressive Batman to eager fans. Those who thought Affleck’s Batman was a dark hero will have to think again.

The Batman will be available in theaters on March 4th, 2022.
