However, a particular set of characters take to a more subtle styling that relates to the gaming audience in real life. Female characters with blonde hair have a fan base amongst the section of gamers, and there are more reasons for it.

Updated October 31, 2022 by Hemanth Kumarr Kumanan: There are potentially hundreds of blonde female game characters out there in the world. Consequently, this article has been updated to include a few more examples.

14 Cammy White – Street Fighter

Cammy White made her debut in the second installment of the Street Fighter series and is one of the more violent blondes in gaming. She was only the second female to be featured as a playable character in the game.

A trained assassin by nature, Cammy’s muscular body and fit physique makes her one of the most brutal women in the arena. But, despite her hard clam punches, the blue-eyed blonde is seen wearing a Leotard and a cadet hat, making her one of the first fan crushes of the series.

13 Sonya Blade – Mortal Kombat

Mortal Kombat has been in the mix of things for a long time, and it is only fair to say the arcade game has unfolded into something more than just a pick and beat em game. Solid characters and storylines have given personalities like Sonya Blade a reason to belong and relate to the players.

Sonya is one of the OG characters of the series and is the first female character of the same. The blond-haired general of the OIA may be a hard nut to deal with in the modern storyline, but had once started off on the lines of princess peaches, often being kidnaped by evil forces only to be rescued by Johnny Cage. The two eventually get married and have a daughter named Cassandra Cage, who turns out to be another jaw-breaking blonde too!

12 Juliet Starling – Lollipop Chainsaw

Juliet Starling is the main protagonist of the 2012 zombie massacre game Lollipop Chainsaw. The lollipop-eating cheerleader from high school awakens on her 18th birthday only to see the roads being overflown upon by flesh-eating zombies.

Upon the game’s release, gamers found her characteristics and traits to have similarities with Harley Quinn. However, there isn’t an official statement to support the fact, but considering the game’s publishers were WB, one can only speculate. Juliet is one of those over-sexualized video game characters and is seen wearing a two-piece cheerleading costume with skirts short enough to make the game 18+.

11 Samus Aran – Metroid

Samus Aran is the main protagonist in Nintendo’s 1986 classic Metroid. With a death calling upon her parents during her childhood, Samus was adopted by the mysterious Chozo group, who had her infused with their DNA and raised her to be a warrior.

Samus made her mark with her debut, as the gaming industry (in the 1980s) was typically accustomed to having male leads. Gamers were taken aback to learn that the long-haired blonde persona underneath the layers of heavy armor was indeed a gunslinging woman!

10 Marie Rose – Dead Or Alive

Marie Rose made her debut in the first installment of the Dead or Alive franchise (DOA5) and went on to stay until the series ended. Although there isn’t much to her story, she made her presence felt in the game series that shows off some of the most bizarre stats in a fighting game.

The 4ft10 fighter looks younger than her age and is the shortest female in the series. With long golden hair braided into two ponytails, she takes to a specific gothic look with her fashion statement, trying to work her charm around her opponents.

9 Samantha Giddings – Until Dawn

Samantha Giddings is one of the eight major characters in the 2015 survival horror game Until Dawn. Samantha, called Sam by her friends in the game, is a college student invited to the cabin for an extended reunion.

The loving and empathic personality of Samantha Giddings(voiced and motion played by actress Hayden Panieterre) was the face of the game, and fans took a liking to her almost immediately. During the game’s release, Sam was on everyone’s “to save” list, and quite a few managed to achieve it. In the gameplay demo, she was a fan favorite and made quite a mark running around wrapped in a towel.

8 Sarah – The Last Of Us

Naughty Dog games have a way with their in-game characters. The Last of Us, released in 2013, was touted to be a post-apocalyptic zombie game where many lead characters would manage to survive. But little did the gamers know that they were about to have the most gut-wrenching, tear-dropping start to a video game.

Sarah Miller is the 10-year-old daughter of Joel (the main lead of the game). She is a playable character through the game prologue, showcasing the zombie outbreak. While the series of events unfold, Sarah is shot by the armed forces changing Joel’s life forever. In a way, Sarah’s bonding with her father is what forms the underlayer of the game’s narrative.

7 Elena Fisher – Uncharted

The Uncharted series of games is one of the industry’s finest, with memorable characters and narratives. One such character is Elena Fisher. An American journalist by profession(or at least until she met Nathan Drake), Elena has been a mainstay in the entire series, taking part in the action and drama of the whole series.

Her relationship with Nathan Drake starts off shaky, but the blonde-haired damsel eventually finds her true calling. Post the events of Uncharted 4, the couple bid farewell to their adventurous pasts and settle down to a life of their own with a daughter named Casie.

6 Princess Peach – Mario Bros.

If there was a perfect personification to the idiom “A damsel in distress”, it would be Princess Peach from the Super Mario Bros. The princess of the mushroom kingdom often finds herself kidnapped by the evil Bowser, only to be rescued by Mario and Luigi.

Although her roles in the franchise have evolved over the years, sharing equal space with the other characters, she is still remembered for her initial roles as the kidnapped princess. She has appeared in several games, spin-offs, and animated movies and is a mainstay of the Mario Bros. franchise.

5 Heather Mason – Silent Hill 3

The Silent Hill series was one of the most beloved horror franchises (apart from Resident Evil). However, long gone are the days when the fans of the special series awaited in eagerness for another installment, wherein some even believed the franchise was doomed to face the half-life destiny. However, good things came to those who waited, and thus came the announcement of Silent Hill F.

With such a mood still lurking around, Heather Mason is another iconic blonde who needs some attention. Making her debut in Silent Hill 3, Heather Mason is the main protagonist and is believed to be the reincarnation of a couple of main characters from previous games. She can be seen sporting the trendy 2000s looks with neck-length spikey blonde hair.

4 Cindy Lennox – Resident Evil: Outbreak

Keeping in line with the horror genre, Cindy Lennox from the Resident Evil: Outbreak game might not be as over the top as some of the other great video game blondes, but she can hold her own in a zombie apocalypse

Making a living off being a waitress at a hotel in Racoon City, Cindy finds herself in all sorts of troubles when her decision to take the noble route puts her in the center of all action at the Racoon City Zoo. Cindy’s default can be seen wearing her uniform with high heel stilettos, with her blond hair tied in a ponytail.

3 Rikku – Final Fantasy X & X-2

Final Fantasy is one of the few video game franchises catering to the three generations of gamers in the long run. With such a massive laurel to its name, it should come as no surprise to learn that the series has introduced many characters who stay in players’ minds and whose names are etched into the books of history. One such character is Rikku.

Although her distinct personality divides the gaming world, she is sure to leave a mark with her presence, and, in this case, as a blonde-haired teenager from Bikanel Island. Rikku makes her maiden appearance in Final Fantasy X and follows this up with its sequel, Final Fantasy X-2.

2 Harley Quinn – Arkham Series and Gotham Knights

Dr. Harleen Quinzel may not be the most wholesome character, but she does make the cut while considering her impactful appearances in the Arkham series and the recently released Gotham Knights. Harley Quinn is often known for her piggy blonde hair, white skin, and affiliations with the clown prince of crime. However, things have changed over the past decade and a half, and she is one of the characters who has evolved in tandem with ever-changing trends in the modern world.

Yet, despite various changes right from her sexuality to the more grey tone with her characteristics, the queen of the underworld has still managed to keep her hair blonde. The larger-than-life character has made a name for herself and has been an integral part of pop culture since her debut in 1992. Apart from her roles in the Batman series, she also featured as one of the pilot characters in WB’s MultiVersus games.

1 Princess Zelda – Legend Of Zelda

Saving the best for the last, Princess Zelda is the titular character of the Zelda games, one of the most sold and famous franchises. Zelda is the daughter of King Hyrule and the rightful heiress to the Land of Hyrule.

Although the game’s players take control of Link – the male character in the game, Princess Zelda’s narrative is the underlying reason for the game to even exist. She has been the main character of the games since 1986 and continues to do so right up to this day.
