For those new to playing as the spooky ghosts, there are some important tools of the trade that can be utilized in the form of abilities, haunts, and perks.RELATED: Midnight Ghost Hunt: The Best Ghost Hunter Weapons, Gadgets, And PerksAbilities are active skills that can be used once the cooldown has finished and typically help during the moment-to-moment gameplay. Haunts are special ghostly abilities that can only be used when “spectating” a match after being destroyed by a ghost hunter. Lastly, perks are passive boosts that help an individual ghost, and sometimes, other ghosts. The following ghost abilities, haunts, and perks are some of the best ones to use in the game.

8 Ability: Spirit

One of the best ghost abilities to use right off the bat is Spirit. Spirit is an escape ability that allows players to quickly navigate out of harm’s way, or at least attempt to. The Spirit ability transforms the player into a sort of ghostly orb that can fly around to avoid damage by the ghost hunters.

The Spirit ability is best used to escape vertically, something that will put the ghost hunters at a quick disadvantage. Also, this ability has the added benefits of being able to escape from the Harpoon weapon as well as the Trap.

7 Ability: Corruptor

Corruptor is a fantastic ability for ghosts that can be used both offensively and defensively depending on the situation at hand. Corruptor transforms unpossessed environmental objects into explodable corrupted objects, something that can devastate a ghost hunter’s health. Plus, the Corruptor ability can be used on multiple objects at once.

One expert strategy to keep in mind when working with other ghosts is combining corrupted objects with the Poltergeist ability. The combination of these two skills means objects can be thrown and exploded upon impact. Learning to circumnavigate ghost hunters’ traps and weapons is a key to success for ghosts in any given match.

6 Ability: Doppelganger

The Doppelganger ghost ability might be one of the most unique and powerful, but also one of the riskiest. Ghosts using the Doppelganger ability can quickly transform into a ghost hunter, however, they don’t look quite the same, often walking with zombie-like movements. This means that eagle-eyed ghost hunters can spot them if they are looking closely enough.

Doppelganger is a great ability to use when there are multiple ghost hunters in one area search as it will be easier to blend it. Ghosts are able to make a few swiping attacks at the hunters but doing so will reveal their hiding place. When used correctly, Doppelganger can deal a good amount of damage to hunters, or, conversely, can be used to simply blend in.

5 Haunt: Health Orb

Haunts are special abilities that can only be used once a ghost has been destroyed and is now “spectating” the rest of the match. One of the very best Haunts to take advantage of is Health Orb. This self-explanatory Haunt spawns a healing orb that can help existing ghosts to regain much-needed health.

While this Haunt is great for keeping other ghosts “alive” for longer, its major downside is that only one Health Orb can be spawned in at any given time. Typically having two ghosts equip the Health Orb Haunts means that there should be plenty of them around the playing field during a match.

4 Haunt: False Trail

False Trail is a pretty intricate Haunt if used properly. This Haunt allows destroyed ghosts to lay down misleading ghostly footprints. Doing so can result in a ghost hunter completely walking away from the location of a ghost. With this in mind, it’s best to use False Trail when far away from other ghosts.

Ghost hunters that use the Pathfinder gadget are able to find ghostly footprints in the environment, something that can often lead them right to where a ghost is hiding. Utilizing False Trail can take ghost hunters off the scent, giving friendly ghosts much-needed time to escape or find a new hiding spot.

3 Haunt: Push Object

The Push Object Haunt is exactly what it sounds like. This Haunt allows ghosts to push random environmental objects around, Poltergeist-style. When used properly, ghost hunters can be completely misled, thinking that a still active ghost is moving from one object to another.

This Haunt also lets destroyed ghosts open doors to further confuse ghost hunters, oftentimes with hilarious results. In order to successfully use Push Object, ghosts should aim at an object to push it in the direction that it is facing.

2 Perk: Ghostly Reach

Perks in Midnight Ghost Hunt are passive abilities that can completely change how a ghost player moves about a stage or interacts with fellow ghosts or the opposing ghost hunters. One such Perk that budding ghosts should take advantage of is Ghostly Reach. Ghostly Reach essentially extends the range at which ghosts can hop from object to object.

Since the key strategy for ghosts to keep at the forefront is hiding, any Perk that can maximize this approach will likely lead to better results. In the case of Ghostly Reach, it means more time can be spent hiding and moving between objects. Interestingly, this Perk allows gives a longer range to Push Object or Poltergeist.

1 Perk: Perception

The Perception Perk is a strong one that centers around seeing ghost hunters and their traps all throughout a stage. Perception gives ghosts the ability to see ghost hunters through walls as well as items like C4 and various traps.

This unique Perk is great when deciding if a new hiding place should be sought out. Anytime a ghost tries to move from an object, it’s likely that nearby ghosts hunters will spot this movement. With Perception, ghosts are able to more freely move about the stage with a keen eye on where the hunters are located at all times.
